Description

This course is concerned with the study of the juvenile justice system and societal responses to juvenile delinquency and youth crime. including youth gangs, as behavioral phenomena. Central objectives are (1) to examine their implications of theory and research for current policy concerning prevention and control of delinquency and youth crime and handling youthful offenders and (2) to examine the current structure, functions and practices of the various components of the juvenile justice system. Particular attention will be devoted to juvenile justice practices and programs in North Carolina. Fall.
