Description
This course will focus on the form of literacy journalism or new journalism, which developed in the 1960s and 1970s using creative narrative techniques, strategies, and fact gathering to report news. Students will study the work of the pioneers of this form as well as that of contemporary practitioners. Students will learn how to research and combine that research with creative writing techniques to find and write compelling works of nonfiction.
Prerequisites: COM 225 or WRT 102.
