Description
This course is designed to introduce students to the Science of reading, the history of the English language and provide them with content knowledge on the early foundational skills needed to teach reading effectively in grades K-6. Emphasis will be on providing content knowledge on the lower level hierarchy skills associated with reading and teaching procedures/strategies for effective instruction. Teacher candidates will gain the knowledge and skills to use systematic, explicit, multi-sensory methods to teach reading skills through the use of oral and written expression..
Pre-requisites: Stage I or must be in Residency Licensure program or teacher licensure program.
