Studies the philosophical base and the concep tual framework from which the elementary scho ol physical education curriculum can be devel eped and evaluated. Includes principles of mo tor learning,mechanical principles, and teach ing styles. Movement experiences include lear ning,teaching,participation in general and pe rsonal space awareness,mimetics and story pla ys, singing games,manipulative activities, st unts and tumbling games of lower organization ,relays,folk dance,rhythms, and lead-ups to s port skills. Other topics include effective c lass management,human wellness concepts,progr ams for children with special needs, teacher responsibilities, and legal liability. Acquis ition of health and safety information which are pertinent to elementary school children.
