Description
This course will address the history of theatre from its origins to the present time with an emphasis on primary motivators and innovators in the field. Key political, cultural and socio-economic factors and their influence on individuals and institutions will be studied as well as major periods and their representative dramatists. This will be an oral-intensive course with group and individual presentations used to cover the material. This course is appropriate for non-majors, and there is no prerequisite, although THE 201 is advised. Spring, alternating with THE 220.
