Description
This course is designed to develop students cognitive understanding and practical application of the medical language used by allied health professionals. The course will focus on acquiring word-building skills by learning prefixes, suffixes, roots, abbreviations, and combining forms. The course will require students to correctly define, interpret, and pronouonce medical terms relating to anatomical stucture and function, pathology, diagnosis, clinical procedures and documentation used in medical reports and varying forms of communciation. A body systems approach will be utilized and common abreviations applicable to each system will be interpreted.
